MY FIRST KISS... with a WOLF!

今回は、いつもおなじみのBrave Wildernessから、オオカミとKissする動画を見ていきましょう!

サムネを見て分かる通り、このオオカミめっちゃ可愛いです...!!

Gray wold = Timber wolf

00:00
- So through here? - Yes.
00:01
- Are you ready? - Yeah, I think I'm ready.
00:03
- All righty, there's some deer fir
00:04
that you're sitting in right there.
00:07
(wolf growling) No, she's checkin' you out,
00:10
there's somethin' else fuzzy there, yep.
00:11
- Oh, she's got my hood.
00:14
(intense music)
00:27
(wolf howling)
00:33
The gray wolf is considered the largest on the canids.
00:36
Males can reach 150 pounds, and while they do grow larger
00:39
than the females, a lady wolf
00:41
only weighs in at around 90 pounds.
00:45
My first encounter will be with the wolf known as Orenda.
00:48
Like all wolves, Orenda is always on high alert
00:52
with her senses firing on all cylinders.
00:56
Front facing eyes provide an incredible
00:58
field of vision with highly tuned depth perception.
01:01
Ears perked, this wolf can hear sound frequencies
01:04
from many miles away, and can detect
01:07
a multitude of sounds human ears can not.
01:11
But Orenda's most powerful tool is her nose
01:14
which contains roughly 300 million olfactory receptors
01:19
making her sense of smell
01:21
40 times greater than that of a human.
01:24
I mention these senses because they immediately
01:27
allow Orenda to tune in with foreign objects
01:29
like cameras and bearded strangers
01:32
that are about to enter her home.
01:35
Now Darlene said I need to take off the majority
01:37
of my outer clothing, that's so that the wolves
01:40
don't grab onto my hood, as you can see,
01:43
this jacket has some fir on it
01:45
which looks like a great thing for a wolf
01:46
to grab onto and play with, and they're extremely powerful.
01:49
The last thing I want to happen is for a wolf to grab me
01:51
and start dragging me somewhere, so I'm gonna also
01:53
take off this vest, and then I'm gonna
01:55
put on my wolf warrior in training vest.
01:58
Now Darlene did also say to take off my hat
02:01
because the wolves may take it but it's keepin' my head warm
02:04
right now so I think we'll just see what happens.
02:07
And I think at this point I'm ready
02:09
to enter into the enclosure and become one of the wolf pack.
02:13
Here we go, a coyote meeting wolves.
02:19
All right Darlene, I'm geared up.
02:21
I kept the hat on, if they take the hat
02:22
I feel like I'll be okay with it.
02:24
- [Darlene] Okay, sounds good.
02:25
- All right, so through here?
02:26
- [Darlene] Yes, are you ready?
02:27
- Yeah, I think I'm ready. - All righty.
02:29
- I'm excited. - Okay, so I'm gonna
02:30
let you in first then I'm gonna shut the door after you.
02:31
- [Coyote] Okay.
02:35
- It's a double gate system. - Okay.
02:37
- Secure, all right, so this is our second gate here,
02:40
it's a big step down so be real careful
02:42
it's icy out here in January.
02:45
Okay, so the white one up there is our little Arctic wolf.
02:48
His name, he's a male, is Isha.
02:51
- Hi, Isha! - And the we have Orenda,
02:53
that's over here.
02:55
- [Coyote] All right.
02:57
- [Darlene] That's the female.
03:01
There she is!
03:05
So she probably likes you to get down on her level there.
03:07
- Okay. - As you can see,
03:08
there's some deer fir that you're sitting in right there
03:11
and palm up with her, awe, she's givin' you some kisses!
03:16
- All right, hi how are you?
03:18
How are you?
03:19
This is amazing, my first
03:22
face-to-face encounter with a wolf.
03:24
I see your paw, it's so big!
03:27
Wow, it's amazing being right next to a wolf like this.
03:30
They're a lot bigger than you would think,
03:32
especially those paws.
03:33
I'm just lettin' her check me out right now.
03:35
Yeah, I see!
03:36
Is it okay for me to be in here?
03:38
Now what's the best way for me
03:39
to seem submissive to this wolf, Darlene?
03:41
- Always be down on her level. - Okay.
03:43
- [Darlene] And when you go to pet them,
03:44
you want under the chin instead of on top of the head.
03:47
- Okay. - 'Cause she can see
03:49
your hand that way - Okay.
03:50
- [Darlene] Because it can make 'em nervous
03:52
if you're goin' over the top of the head.
03:54
Good girl! - So how old is she?
03:56
- She is two years of age. - Okay.
03:58 pup=puppy
- [Darlene] So she's pretty much still a pup.
04:01
Look at those beautiful yellow eyes that she has.
04:02
- But she's pretty much full size right now, correct?
04:04
- Yeah she is, she has her full winter coat on,
04:07
weight on her would probably be around 80 pounds.
04:10
- Okay. - 70, 80 pounds.
04:12
And she is a gray wolf or also known as timber wolf.
04:15
- Yep. - Gray wolf and timber wolf,
04:16
same thing, just depends on where you live
04:18
and what you call 'em.
04:19
- I would say she's the most quintessential look,
04:21
when you think wolf, she is sorta that perfect color design.
04:25
They come in multiple different color phases,
04:27
there's this gray mixture, black, white,
04:31
is there any other that mix in there as well?
04:33
- Your typical is gonna be what we call
04:34
a silver gray like what you see there,
04:36
they can be in shades of black, black and sort of a cream,
04:40
they can have some reddish tones in there,
04:43
but that is your most typical.
04:44
When you think of a gray wolf or a timber wolf,
04:46
that's sort of what you think of.
04:49
- Orenda, Orenda!
04:51
So is there a key word or a phrase
04:53
that you use to bring her in closer to you?
04:56
- She likes high pitched voices
04:58
and if you say treats really high,
05:00
she definitely is treat motivated so she likes that as well,
05:04
and she knows I have a couple in my pocket.
05:06
- I see.
05:07
- And so she's checkin' you out
05:09
and she said, "Oh, there's somethin' else fuzzy."
05:10
- She's got my hood, she's got my hood.
05:13
Well. - She wants somethin' fuzzy
05:14
so I'm gonna try to, yep so what you wanna do
05:17
is make sure that she's not getting behind your neck there
05:21
because she'll wanna steal that.
05:23
Awe, she said, "I'll give you a kiss!"
05:25
- Now I did grow out this beard just for you guys.
05:29
(wolf growling) - No!
05:32
- None of that, what is she saying
05:33
with that little growl there?
05:34
- She's saying that she doesn't want you to lay down,
05:39
she wants you to sit up like that.
05:40
- I see, okay. - Yeah.
05:41
And she's probably wanting your jacket
05:44
and so she's saying, "I want that jacket."
05:46
- [Coyote] I see.
05:47
- She could be a little bit nervous
05:49
because there's a lot of people in here,
05:51
she don't know what's going on, and I have meat treats
05:53
and she's wanting that and not wanting you
05:55
to take it away from her and that could be--
05:59
- That is the full wolf kiss right there.
06:01
- Yes it is, yes it is, and I'm glad
06:04 息も臭くないので道で轢かれた鹿も食べてないわ。
that she has good breath and she hasn't ate a roadkill deer.
06:07
- Yes! - So I'll bring her
06:08
over here, see how fast she is?
06:10
- Oh yeah.
06:11
- Here you go. - Okay.
06:13
There you go, oh yeah, it makes you nervous
06:15
to feed a wolf pieces of meat.
06:19
You don't want your finger to end up in there
06:20
so as soon as she goes for it, I try to keep my hand--
06:22
- It's callin' eat like a wolf.
06:23
- Yeah, eatin' like a wolf, it's amazing how fast she's--
06:26
- Very fast and you gotta be very careful with your fingers,
06:29
so very fast, there we go.
06:30
- Yeah, there we go. - That's gone that quick.
06:32
- Yeah, I see what you're doing, you're letting her
06:35
kinda dig in like that a little bit,
06:36
I'm a little nervous that she would grab on to my thumb.
06:38
- The way she is right now I would probably
06:40
just do a flat hand there and what I'm trying to do
06:43
is get her away so you can just see how quick she is,
06:47
and if it falls on the ground, let her
06:48
- Let her go for it. - Let her pick it up, yes.
06:50
- Woo, that definitely gets your heart racing a little bit.
06:54 lunge=plunge longやロンギヌスの槍と同語源
As soon as she lunges like that, you can just see the power
06:58
and the strength and the speed is just incredible!
07:01
- It is, isn't it. - I can imagine
07:02
what it would be like to see wolves in the wild,
07:04
a pack of them taking down something like a moose.
07:06 ungula=ひづめ
You think about how big an ungulate like that is
07:09
and how they work together as a team
07:10
to bring somethin' down.
07:12
Just being this close, seeing that power
07:14
within this proximity, you can understand
07:17
how they're able to move so quickly
07:18
to throw that animal off balance,
07:19
be able to work together as a team
07:21
to then take down larger prey.
07:22
- [Darlene] Right, absolutely, good girl!
07:24
- Now when it comes to the pack structure here
07:27
within the individual enclosures,
07:28
I noticed that there's two wolves per enclosure.
07:31                                         トップ、長
Now, are they both considered alphas
07:33
within their own little domain?
07:35
- [Darlene] What happens is we try to pair them up,
07:38
usually in a male, female combination there.
07:41
I have had up to a six pack together,
07:44
but because you've changed all the dynamics
07:46 飼育環境では生態が全然違うの
in a captive situation, that does change
07:49 環境が野生と違うの、野生では群れから離れるんだけど
whereas out in the wild, they can disperse from a pack,
07:51 飼育環境では離れていかないから、最終的には
in captivity, that doesn't happen and so eventually
07:54 dwindle=downしていくこと
it keeps dwindling down
07:56 両立したペアになっていくの
to where you have two compatible pair.
08:00
- Well I think we've had the great chance
08:02
to be up close and personal with a wolf
08:04
and now as I understand it, you guys actually
08:06
have a roadkill deer that we'll be able
08:09
to bring into one of these enclosures
08:10
and actually see how wolves eat.
08:12
- [Darlene] Absolutely.
08:13
- Okay, well I think I'm ready if you're ready.
08:15
- Yes! - Let's feed some wolves!
08:17
- Let's do that!
08:18
(intense music) - Stay tuned coyote pack,
08:20
our epic encounter with wolves continues this weekend.
