00:04
- I was getting kinda cool shots of the wind
00:07
in these coconut trees.
00:09
I love that movie Cast Away, where Tom Hanks
00:10
is throwing the coconut at the rocks,
00:12
and I kinda wonder if it's really that hard.
00:15
You think I can climb up there?
00:16
- [Voiceover] I mean, maybe, it's a little windy.
00:20
Aren't you afraid that you're gonna get blown off the tree?
00:23
- No, I'm like a cat climbing trees,
00:24
I think I can do this, I got this GoPro.
00:27
Alright, ready?
00:27
I'm gonna climb it.
00:29
- [Voiceover] Alright, go for it.
00:29
- [Coyote] Alright.
00:31
- [Voiceover] Are you gonna get a green or a brown coconut?
00:32
- I'm gonna try to get one of each.
00:36
- [Voiceover] Careful.
00:41
Wow, you did it.
00:46
- I got an iguana.
00:48
- [Voiceover] Iguana, nice!
00:50
- I'll put it in my pocket.
00:55
I'm up in the tree.
00:59
- [Voiceover] Are you still gonna get a coconut?
01:00
- Yeah.
01:02
Look out.
01:03
- [Voiceover] Whoa.
01:05
- [Coyote] Oh man, did it fall in the water?
01:07
- [Voicoever] Yeah, hold on, let me see if I can get it.
01:09
Got it, I got it.
01:11
- [Coyote] Alright, I'll get a brown one.
01:13
Woo!
01:14
- [Voiceover] Okay.
01:15
- Alright, I'm coming down.
01:16
- [Voiceover] Alright.
01:18
- Ahh.
01:21
That's rough on my coconuts.
01:25
Holy cow.
01:27
Look at this.
01:29
(laughing)
01:32
I caught an iguana while getting coconuts.
01:36
Come here, little guy.
01:38
I'm speechless right now.
01:42
Victory.
01:43
- [Voiceover] An iguana and two coconuts.
01:44
- An iguana and two coconuts.
01:46
Alright, let's get out of the wind
01:48
and figure out how to open these up.
01:49
(tribal music)
02:00
Hey everyone, I'm Coyote Peterson,
02:02
and welcome to our new segment, On Location.
02:05
This is gonna be a behind-the-scenes look
02:07
at all the stuff we do when we're not filming
02:09
and catching animals.
02:10
This morning I climbed up a tree and got these two coconuts.
02:14
I also caught an iguana, which was pretty cool,
02:16
because animals just make it into everything that we do.
02:18
Now the brown one sounds like it has a lot
02:21
of coconut milk in it, and the green one
02:23
just sounds like it's solid.
02:25
Now I've never opened up a coconut before,
02:26
so this is new for me.
02:27
I'm gonna go with the green one first.
02:29
I'm gonna use my SOG SEAL Pup and see if I can get
02:32
into this thing without cutting off my finger.
02:34
Alright, you ready?
02:36
- [Voiceover] Alright, hold on a second.
02:37
Have you done this before?
02:38
- No, I've never opened a coconut before.
02:39
I've also never climbed a palm tree to get a coconut,
02:42
or climbed a palm tree to get a coconut
02:44
and catch an iguana, so it's a first for everybody.
02:45
- [Voiceover] So safe to say you're a coconut rookie.
02:48
- Yes, I am a complete rookie
02:49
and I hope I don't cut my thumb off doing this.
02:51
Alright, you ready?
02:52
Here we go.
02:53
Oh, that's actually a lot softer than I thought it would be,
02:55
it's kinda like a mango.
02:57
One of my favorite movies is Cast Away with Tom Hanks,
03:01
and he just kept bashing those coconuts
03:04
against the rocks, trying to get them open.
03:06
I was like, "Really?
03:07
"Is it that hard to open up a coconut?"
03:10
I think that the brown ones are actually the ripe ones,
03:13
so this may be a non-ripe coconut.
03:17
Okay, I got this cut into several sections here.
03:20
See if I can, there we go, look at that.
03:23
Yes.
03:26
- [Voiceover] Progress.
03:29
(Coyote grunts)
03:31
Okay, tell us what it smells like.
03:32
- Ooo, it smells like a pumpkin.
03:34
- [Voiceover] Really?
03:36
Let me see it.
03:38
I don't think you're supposed to eat that.
03:41
- You're not.
03:42
- [Voiceover] Yuck.
03:43
- I just wanted to see what it--
03:44
- [Voiceover] Yeah, I coulda told you that.
03:45
- I just wanted to see what it tasted like, not good.
03:47
Now I think if I get this husk all the way off
03:49
then I can chop into the actual coconut fruit inside there.
03:55
That is the coconut.
03:56
Well, the good part of the coconut, right there.
04:00
Eat your heart out, Tom Hanks.
04:03
I'd say what, less than five minutes
04:04
and I got that thing pretty well husked down, huh?
04:08
Wow, there it is.
04:10
That is exactly what I was after.
04:14
Okay, now we're gonna get into--
04:18
- [Voiceover] Coconut number two.
04:18
- coconut number two.
04:20
I'm excited about this one, see if you can hear that.
04:22
(water swishing)
04:26
That one's full of coconut milk.
04:30
Oh yeah, now we're getting somewhere.
04:34
Oh wow, now that looks like a coconut.
04:37
(grunting)
04:40
Tom Hanks, if you're watching this right now,
04:42
you shoulda gone after the brown coconuts,
04:45
much easier to get into.
04:46
There is the coconut, wow.
04:49
(laughign) Look at that.
04:52
Okay, green coconut, brown coconut.
04:57
Sounds like it's full of coconut milk.
05:00
Sounds like a rock.
05:02
Only thing left to do now is cut into both of these
05:05
and have some breakfast.
05:06
Alright, I'm gonna get into this one first
05:08
and see if there's any coconut milk in there.
05:13
Yes, look at that, there's the coconut meat right there.
05:17
- [Voiceover] Oh, nice.
05:18
- Oh, we are in.
05:19
I'm gonna give it a go here.
05:22
- [Voiceover] Drink it like Tom Hanks,
05:24
make sure you get it to run down your face.
05:25
(laughing)
05:26
- Oh, it actually is pretty good, right?
05:28
- [Voiceover] Yeah.
05:31
(laughing)
05:34
- Yeah, that's good, that's really good.
05:37
Alright, well let's open up the brown one.
05:38
Wow, that's refreshing. (laughing)
05:42
Coconut breakfast, alright, here we go,
05:44
let's get into this one.
05:48
You ready?
05:49
- [Voiceover] Yeah.
05:56
- It's okay.
05:58
Mmm, the green one, much tastier
06:03
than the milk coming out of the brown one.
06:05
Okay, now I wanna get into meat.
06:10
Look at that, it's like gelatinous, almost.
06:13
Alright, that is the meat of the green coconut.
06:17
It has the consistency of raw fish.
06:19
I'm gonna give this a go.
06:25
They don't really taste like anything.
06:28
Ugh.
06:29
- [Voiceover] Nothing?
06:30
- You ever had sushi from the grocery store
06:31
that's like four days expired?
06:33
- [Voiceover] No.
06:34
- That's what that tastes like.
06:35
But not fishy, just like--
06:37
- [Voiceover] You're eating the wrong sushi, man.
06:38
- Okay, green coconut meat, not so good.
06:42
Green coconut milk, delicious.
06:45
Alright, now let's get into the brown coconut
06:48
and see what this meat is like.
06:49
Alright, I'm gonna bust this open on the rock,
06:50
you ready?
06:51
One, two.
06:57
(laughing)
07:00
Now that looks like a coconut.
07:03
You can see the difference in the thickness of the meat.
07:06
This is definitely underdeveloped,
07:09
where that looks like real coconut.
07:12
- [Voiceover] You could just eat that right there.
07:13
- That looks delicious.
07:14
Alright, I'm gonna give this a go, you ready?
07:18
Oh yeah, (laughing) that is good coconut right there.
07:22
Wow, holy cow.
07:28
Mark?
07:29
- [Voiceover] Okay, let me try.
07:30
- Give that a go, buddy.
07:32
- Oh yeah.
07:33
- Mhm.
07:34
- [Mark] Yeah.
07:35
- That's delicious.
07:35
Mario, you wanna try this?
07:37
- [Voiceover] Sure.
07:39
- Here you go, buddy.
07:43
- It's good.
07:44
- [Coyote] It's pretty good.
07:45
- [Mark] You know who else, I think,
07:46
might want to try that?
07:47
- Who's that?
07:47
- [Mark] Our new friend.
07:49
- Oh yes, hey Mario, where's Wilson at?
07:54
Wilson, hi buddy.
07:57
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed
07:59
our first On Location segment.
08:02
Climbing up a tree, catching an iguana,
08:04
getting a green coconut and a brown coconut,
08:07
opening them both up, trying the milk,
08:09
and then, of course, trying the meat.
08:10
What we've determined from this is that iguanas are awesome,
08:14
this is Wilson, and that the green coconut
08:16
has delicious milk, not so good on the meat,
08:19
and the brown coconut, don't drink the milk,
08:21
but eat the meat.
08:22
You want some?
08:25
I'm Coyote Peterson, be brave,
08:27
stay wild, we'll see you on the next adventure.
08:34
I named him Wilson because Tom Hanks
08:36
named that volleyball Wilson in Cast Away.
08:39
I think that's the fitting name for this iguana.
08:42
Don't ever leave me, Wilson.
08:43
Don't ever leave.
08:45
You're my best friend.
08:47
Can I have a kiss?
08:56
Wilson, no!
08:58
Oh, Wilson, no!
09:03
I'm sorry, Wilson. (fake crying)
09:08
Thought of Tom Hanks.
