- What's going on, guys?

00:01

Today we're at the Australian Reptile Park,

00:03   s/

which is famous for all of its reptile species.

00:06                      /

But as you can see, instead of getting up close

00:08                                      /

with snakes, turtles, or lizards,

00:09                                                *crazy

we're in the middle of a bird feeding frenzy.

00:12                                     s/

Mario, what species of parrot is this?

00:14                              s/ *lorikeet

- These colorful little birds are called lorikeets,

00:17

and they love hanging out in these urban environments.

00:20                  ←

- Mark, what is it that we're feeding these bird?

00:22 =pottage        =mash

- Well, it's kinda looks like porridge and mushy apples.

00:27     =The apple was mashed

That used to be an apple,

00:28              =voracious, starving

man, they are ravenous, look at that,

00:29

look how fast it ate that.

00:31                  =eating

- They are just digging into the fruit

00:34

and lapping it up with their tongues,

00:35

which are really interesting.

00:36

They almost look like paintbrushes.

00:38

And if you keep your camera really steady,

00:39

you might be able to see the tongue going in and out there

00:42

and those beaks are razor sharp.

00:44

I love their feet.

00:45

Describe the feet to everybody.

00:47                                  =claw

- The feet, they've got little talons,

00:49

they're like these little sharp claws

00:51

and they're sort of like dinosaur feet,

00:53

they're pretty cool and scaly looking.

00:54

- Now, Mario, this would be an example

00:55 =bird

of an avian dinosaur, right?

00:57

- We are surrounded by living dinosaurs right now, yeah.

01:00

- I would say, if I were to have to compare to this

01:02

to a scene in one of the Jurassic World movies,

01:05

it would be The Lost World,

01:06               =surrounded

when that guy got swarmed by the procompsognathus.

01:09

I could imagine these parrots jumping on top of us,

01:12

clawing us, and eating us with those beaks.

01:14                              s/     =flower honey

But the good news for us is they only eat fruit and nectar.

01:18

(birds screeching)

01:19

What a crazy feeding frenzy.

01:21          s/ v/ o

Ow, that one bit my finger.

01:22

(laughing)

01:23

And they're loud.

01:24 =screak,scream

The shriek is ear piercing.

01:26

Mario, why are they so loud?

01:28

- That's how they communicate with each other.

01:29                                                     /

They're actually calling more lorikeets in as we speak.

01:33

Look at that.

01:34                          / s/ v

- And I can't quite tell if they're eating the apples,

01:36

or just ripping them up into little pieces.

01:39

(laughs)

01:39                        =covering

- [Mark] They're like, mulching the apples, it's hilarious.

01:41

- I'll tell you what, if you needed somebody

01:43

to make you some apple sauce,

01:44

these birds would be the ones for the job.

01:47 =careless,spill

Very sloppy eaters.

01:48

I guess we're sloppy handlers,

01:50

because we've got apples and porridge all over us right now.

01:54

- It looks like you've got

01:54 =leader

the ringleader on your hat right now.

01:57

- I am completely immersed in a parrot feeding frenzy.

02:02

It's colorful, it's loud, it's intense,

02:05

but it certainly makes a very cool VR 180 experience.

02:08

- This is awesome.

02:08

- They're kinda cute.

02:09           s/                   ↓(experience)

- So anybody can come and do this, right?

02:11             = can be experienced

- The Australian Reptile Park is phenomenal

02:14      =the park

because they encourage you to get hands on

02:16

with some of the animals

02:17

that are roaming throughout the park.

02:18

And if you sit down for lunch,

02:20

bring an apple or a banana with you

02:21

and you're guaranteed to find yourself

02:23

in the middle of a feeding frenzy.

02:25

I'm Coyote Peterson.

02:26

- I'm Mark Vins.

02:27

- I'm Mario Aldecoa.

02:28

- Be brave.

02:29

- Stay wild. - Stay wild.

02:31

- We'll see you on the next adventure.

02:33

Alright, guys, I think lunch is over,

02:34

we gotta get back to filming some episodes.

02:36

Sound good?

02:37

Okay.

02:38

- Let's go.

02:39

- See ya.

02:40

(birds screeching)
